Right-hander Jacob deGrom is healthy. He threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled to make his spring debut Friday night. But the Rangers aren’t going to let him pitch Opening Day, March 27 against the Red Sox, and might wait until the season’s fifth game. That might actually benefit deGrom and the Rangers, who are trying to keep the two-time Cy Young winner healthy and have him available for an anticipated return to the postseason. The near-term health of right fielder Adolis Garcia is more of a priority. He reported discomfort in his left oblique and was sent for an MRI exam, the results of which were pending early Tuesday afternoon.
