The Texas Rangers lost 4-3 on Wednesday to the Houston Astros, and the question many had afterward was: Why on earth did manager Skip Schumaker elect to not intentionally walk Yordan Alvarez? Alvarez homered in the fourth inning against Jacob deGrom, who pitched well over six innings, and he led off the eighth inning in a 2-2 game with another homer that led to a 4-3 victory. It was his second straight two-homer game and his fifth of the series. Schumaker addressed the homer off of Tyler Alexander, but it didn’t satisfy a fan base that has become angry at just about all aspects of the Rangers … including their beat writers. At least deGrom was better, but he’s never satisfied. President of baseball operations Chris Young is trying to remain positive about the team’s immediate future.
