The Texas Rangers are in some pretty unsavory company. Only the White Sox, Rockies and Pirates have worse road records than the Rangers this season. Yikes. If the Rangers had been only seven games better, they would be leading their division. Alas, they have to figure things out now, with a six-game road trip ahead after a 5-1 homestand. The A’s and the Diamondbacks aren’t great teams, so it would appear as if opportunity awaits. Things only get harder after the road trip, so the Rangers need to see Adolis Garcia and Joc Pederson stay hot and the starting rotation, including Jack Leiter, continue its fine work. Jacob Latz, who pitched well Wednesday, could be the pitcher who fills in for Nathan Eovaldi the rest of the way.
