The Texas Rangers were unable to avoid the injury bug Thursday, when they revealed that top prospect Sebastian Walcott has an elbow injury that requires surgery. The Rangers are hoping that Walcott can have the internal-brace procedure, which requires a shorter recovery period than Tommy John surgery. If that is the procedure, Walcott could be hitting in games this season. That’s his hope after hearing the tough news on an injury that dates to the Arizona Fall League. The Rangers also made the Jordan Montgomery deal official, and the left-hander was in camp Friday. He’s one more arm for new pitching coach Jordan Tiegs to monitor. He joined the show.
