This is it. Light the lights. The Texas Rangers are at the start of the biggest week of their season — four games at Kansas City, three games at home against Cleveland. Those two teams are ahead of the Rangers in the wild-card standings, and a good week for the Rangers will strengthen their bid to return to the postseason. The winning formula was on display Sunday at Toronto, where Nathan Eovaldi was solid (again) and four key hitters homered — Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter. That was thought to be the formula at the start of 2024. Better late than never? It’s go time now, and even Seager said so. He also heaped praise on Eovaldi and Semien, and those are the kind of performances the Rangers will need going forward.
