The talk for almost all of the offseason is that the Texas Rangers are strapped for cash and surely will stay below the competitive balance tax, better known as the luxury tax. They have gone over it the past two seasons and don’t want to pay for penalties that get steeper and steeper. However, president of baseball operations Chris Young said that the winter meetings that ownership might be open to doing so with the right deal. It might not happen to start the season, despite the Corbin Burnes rumors, but perhaps the Rangers will crest at the trade deadline if necessary. Also, we continue to look at the starting rotation, this time Nathan Eovaldi.
