The No. 1 decision facing the Texas Rangers this offseason has been answered: Bruce Bochy won’t be coming back as manager. Question No. 1a now becomes: Who is going to replace him? The easy answer, and the early expectation, is that former Marlins manager Skip Schumaker will be the choice after the Rangers said they and Bochy “mutually agreed” to part ways. Reading into some of what Chris Young, the president of baseball operations, said afterward might cast some doubt as to how “mutual” that decision was. Bochy didn’t get into that when reached Monday night, and he believes the 2026 Rangers are going to be in excellent shape even if the roster is younger and the payroll is smaller. It sounds like something he’d like to have been a part of.
