DLLS Texas Rangers Podcast: Marlins complete sweep as Rangers’ playoff hopes dim

The Texas Rangers‘ playoff chances took a serious hit after being swept by the Astros, but they still had some hope if they could take care of the Marlins to start the final homestand of the season. Instead, the Marlins took care of the Rangers, sweeping the three-game series and forcing the Rangers to face reality. With only six games to go, they are extreme long shots to make the postseason and will have to consider telling star players Corey Seager and Marcus Semien to stop trying to come back from injuries for the final few games. So what happened? Right-hander Merrill Kelly, the Rangers’ starter Sunday, gave a very accurate description: The young players who gave the Rangers a lift were unable to keep up their pace after the league adjusted, and the Astros series took a lot of starch out of the team.
