An MLB offseason isn’t just about free agency. Sprinkled in are a series of deadlines that help with roster creation and will be critical to every team, but especially the Texas Rangers. Up first are the GM meetings next week, where club officials will gather to talk with each other and agents about free agents and trades. Then comes setting the 40-man roster, which is mostly known for which minor-leaguers to protect from the Rule 5 draft in December at the winter meetings. The Rangers have a few candidates to consider. The non-tender deadline arrives a few days later, and that could spell the end of the line for Adolis Garcia and Jonah Heim with the Rangers. Will the Rangers be able to trade either one of them before the deadline arrives?
