The Texas Rangers plucked one of the many high school shortstops availabe in the MLB Draft. They selected Gavin Fien from California with the 12th overall pick, their first first-round selection from the prep ranks since Cole Winn in 2018. The Rangers also selected pitchers AJ Russell and two-way player Josh Owens from the same region of Tennessee as Evan Carter. The chat was active with talk about the trade deadline and what the Rangers will do. Expect them to add a reliever or two, but they might have to get creative with their finances to make it happen.
