The Texas Rangers were off Monday, and they needed it after losing five times on their six-game road trip. Included was a three-game sweep at Seattle, the Rangers’ new house of horrors. The starting rotation slipped too much for the struggling offense to overcome the deficits. While the Rangers are about to kick off a six-game homestand, they are facing two good clubs, the Angels and Dodgers. Jack Leiter won’t be ready for either series because of a blister, but he’s throwing again and getting closer to a return from the injured list. The Rangers could alter their rotation so that Patrick Corbin doesn’t pitch twice in the six games. The team continues to believe that the offense will get going, but Joc Pederson really needs to get his swing together in the middle of the lineup.
