The statistics don’t lie: The Texas Rangers have one of the worst offenses in Major League Baseball. They are tied for the MLB basement with the Royals for fewest runs scored, at 67, and are ahead of only the White Sox in on-base percentage (.274). Furthermore, the Rangers have the second-fewest at-bats in the game with runners in scoring position. Manager Bruce Bochy said on Sunday that the Rangers are looking at ways to get the offense going, though there might not be much he can do aside from moving hitters up and down the lineup. Josh Smith, for instance, could take over the leadoff spot from Marcus Semien. Dustin Harris has earned at-bats with his nice showing since being called up from Triple A Round Rock.
