Stop us if you’ve heard this before: The Texas Rangers received a strong pitching performance from their starter, but the offense didn’t do enough in another low-scoring loss. That was the same recipe for disaster Thursday against the A’s, who prevailed 3-0 to win the four-game series. Tyler Mahle tossed six scoreless innings for the Rangers, who were hapless against A’s starter Jeffrey Springs. Marcus Semien reached base three times, but the Rangers again struggled with runners in scoring position. Manager Bruce Bochy wasn’t quite at his wits’ end, but he was perplexed by the sudden lack of power from the lineup.
