The Texas Rangers continue to sort through their offseason options while continuing to work without a full understanding of how much money they have to spend. They know it will be less than in 2025, which could make it difficult to find the kind of catcher they need. They still have Jonah Heim, though the team is expected to move on from him after a second straight lousy offensive season. The free-agent market is thin after JT Realmuto, so a trade might be the Rangers’ best bet. They have other needs, namely the bullpen but also the need/desire to sign a starting pitcher. One way to free up more money would be to trade a high-priced player, and Marcus Semien would be the most likely to be moved.
