The Texas Rangers opend the 2025 season today against the Red Sox. Fans coming to Globe Life Field should arrive early, and those not in attendance actually have TV viewing options.
ARLINGTON — No Opening Day in Texas Rangers history was more highly anticipated than the 2024 season opener. So much was happening in the glow of the team’s first World Series title, from the unfurling of the championship banner to showing off the Commissioner’s Trophy to the hope of a repeat.
The Rangers won the ballgame, too.
Opening Day 2025 arrives today and won’t feel a thing like it did last year. But it will feel similar to Rangers fans as the majority of the previous 53 season openers. There’s nothing to celebrate, but there is hope that the 2025 Rangers will again be back in the World Series.
They open the season today against the Red Sox. Fans not at Globe Life Field might actually be able to see it on their TVs thanks to the Rangers Sports Network.
There are 40,000-plus headed to the Arlington Entertainment District to watch right-hander Nathan Eovaldi start the season opener, just as he did last season. For those who are coming, here’s what you need to know:
Open, open, open
The game at Globe Life Field begins at 3:05 p.m., and parking lots will open at 10 a.m. Ballpark gates will open at noon, which is also 10 minutes before the Rangers start batting practice. The Red Sox hit at 1:10, which will get them off the field in time for the pregame ceremonies.
A word of advice: Get to the ballpark as soon as possible.
TV options
The Rangers Sports Network will carry the game, which can be seen through the following providers: DirecTV, U-Verse, Spectrum, Fubo and Astound. The game can also be streamed on Victory+, and a season pass costs only $100.
Dave Raymond is back for play-by-play duties and will be joined by color analyst Mike Bascik and new field reporter Laura Stickells. Elvis Andrus is making his TV debut on the pregame and postgame shows with host Jared Sandler.
Pregame stuff
Native Texan and country artist Randall King will belt out the National Anthem at 2:58 p.m., but only after both teams are introduced. The Red Sox will be first at 2:44 p.m., and the Rangers will take their place on the first-base line at 2:48 p.m.
The first pitch will be handled by Maxwell Jacob Friedman, or MJF, who is one of the stars of All Elite Wrestling. AEW is headed to Globe Life Field on July 12.
Opening Day notes
The Rangers are 25-28 all time in season openers and are riding a two-game Opening Day winning streak. As far as home openers, the Rangers are 27-26 at three different ballparks. Today marks the fourth time the Rangers have faced the Red Sox on Opening Day, and Texas is 3-1.
Eovladi is starting his fifth season opener. He will be opposed by Garrett Crochet, the hard-throwing left-hander acquired by the Red Sox during the offseason in a trade with the White Sox.
Among the players on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster are rookie right-handers Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker.
