The Texas Rangers needed to win Wednesday night to secure the series against the Orioles and to break even on their six-game homestand. The expectation was that Nathan Eovaldi would be better in his second start off the injured list, but the offense is always a mystery. Mystery solved, as Marcus Semien hit a two-run homer, as Ezequiel Duran delivered a critical two-out, two-run single and as Corey Seager launched a solo homer in the 6-0 victory. Eovaldi lasted five innings, and Dane Dunning cleaned up the final three to help reset the bullpen ahead of a critical nine-game road trip to finish the first half. The Rangers face the Padres this weekend before an important intradivision series against the Angels and Astros.
