A sweep would have been sweet, but the Texas Rangers did what they had to do Sunday to ensure a series victory over the Astros. Patrick Corbin allowed on run in 5 2/3 innings, and Jake Burger capped a three-run with a two-run homer en route to a 4-2 victory. Cody Freeman sparked the sixth with a two-out single against Framber Valdez as the players who weren’t expected to contribute to a Rangers playoff drive continued to make things happen. His energy is infectious, established players said afterward, and the fresh energy from others like Freeman are helping the Rangers stay in the playoff hunt despite a series of injuries. Up next: The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the best record in baseball.
