The Texas Rangers finished off a three-game sweep of the hapless Rockies on Wednesday, scoring four times in the first inning en route to an 8-3 victory for their fifth straight win. Wyatt Langford hit a two-run homer in the first, Jake Burger notched a key two-run double in the sixth, and Adolis Garcia added a two-run homer. The three key hits, all by right-handed hitters, went to right field, a sign that the Rangers are finally starting to cut down on their chase rate. That could be the influence of Bret Boone as the new hitting coach. On the mound, Patrick Corbin was solid again. He struck out nine, including six in a row at one point, and gave the Rangers six innings on a night they were short in the bullpen. Don’t worry. It was good news Wednesday for the relievers.
