The best news for the Texas Rangers after a 2-5 road trip is that they are home for the next nine games. They are 34-20 entering the start of a three-game series against the Yankees. Most teams in baseball this season have losing road records, and the Rangers are 11 games under .500 away from Globe Life Field. Before they can worry about solving their road woes, they have to worry about the Yankees, followed by the Phillies and the Diamondbacks. The Rangers will see multiple left-handed pitchers, beginning Monday with Max Fried, and that’s a problem. The offense has been among the worst in baseball against lefties. But it’s Aug. 4, when arguably the most memorable moment in the history of the old Turnpike Stadium took place 32 years ago — Nolan Ryan making a punching bag out of Robin Ventura’s head.
